Look who I met today....

Okay, so like most every teacher I know, we all love a good book. One of my most favorite ones is The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka. Well today I got to meet him!!!! **Jumps around and does a happy dance** He has a new book Frank Einstein which is about a really smart kid who creates awesome things. It is the first book of a six book science series. I am so excited to read it with my fourth graders because the first book is about the scientific method and matter which is where we are starting at in science this year.

Jon spoke for about 30 minutes and was just wonderful to listen to. The kids that were at the signing were so funny and asked and said some really funny things. I learned a lot about Jon and other books he has. I am very excited and hope to get some of his boy friendly books in my class room soon. I just love getting to meet people who enjoy helping and teaching children and who I love to learn from. Check your local Barnes and Nobles for authors coming to local stores!

I wonder who I will get to meet next?

Have a wonderful week friends!!!

Room set up, open house and 1st day or 4th grade!!!

Hello dear friends!!! It has been awhile since I have blogged. It has been a crazy 2 weeks since I started back at work. We went back the 11th and got into trainings and planning. However, all I wanted to do was get into my classroom. The charter school I work for is expanding and out 2nd-7th grades moved into a new building and it wasn't quite ready yet. Finally, or Wednesday of last week we were able to bring stuff in and see out rooms but could not decorate yet. Below are some pictures of my new room before I got started with it. I was excited it is really nice!

When we were finally able to get started decorating I was super excited! I was lucky enough to have my wonderful husband to come in and help me some. I am so very loved!!!

I don't have any pics of my room all finished I will have to get some on Monday!

Open house was awesome. I only had 4 people not show up! All the parents were really awesome and supportive. I heard a lot of if you need anything let us know, we would love to help in class, and just other great things. They all seem excited and super supportive. I am even lucky enough to have some awesome parents from last year with me again this year!!!

Our first day is always a half day. So kids started coming in at 7:45 and we got started about 8:45. They all seem so excited about the year. I was really excited to hear a lot of them really like science!!! We toured the new school, went over rules and important times, and did a few getting to know you things. The end of the day was at 11:30 but car line took a really long time (we knew this going into it) and I think my last kid left at almost 1:30. All in all it was a good day. I have a great group and I know we are going to have an amazing year! I can't wait to really get started!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

You Oughta know about GoNoodle

It's time for my first blog hop!!!! I am linking up with Jasmine at Buzzing with Mrs. McClain for You oughta know....

So, last school year I came across this wonderful site, GoNoodle.com. My students LOVED it. This site is something you oughta to know about.
GoNoodle.com is a site for brain breaks. It has so many different options that everyone can find something. There are dancing brain breaks, popular songs, things to help calm students and things to help energize them. They have been working all summer to update the site and make it super user friendly. They have gave more options and ways to decided what brain break you want to use and they are even asking your opinion on what you want to see next. There are just so many choices all in one place!

When you set up your class you will get a main home screen like this...

One of the brain breaks I love the most is called Airtime. It is all about calm breathing. Students calmly breath in and out as a bubble floats through the air. At the end you get a post card to learn about new places all over the United States. The facts are fun and interesting and I have learned a lot of fun things I didn't know. Click the link below to see Airtime. I love to so this break before we did a test just to get the kids calm and ready to go. So many told me it made them feel better about taking the test, which is always a good thing! Click the picture below for a youtube video on Airtime.

One of the other things I love about GoNoodle are the Champs. The kids love them. They are these cute little creatures that change as you do more brain breaks. My students always got excited what it was time for our Champ to transform.

All around I just love this site. I will be using it again this year and hope my 4th graders love it as much at my 1st graders did! I hope you love the site!

Now go hop around and find some other things you oughta know!!!

Last week of summer peek!

It should be a really good week! There is a lot going on, and with it being the last week of summer I am going to enjoy it!!!

So, I am linking up with Jennifer at Mrs. Laffin’s Laughings for her A Peek at my Week.

Monday, I am having lunch with my team. I am super excited to get to see them all. I know it’s not been too long since we were all together but having this lunch really makes the new school year seem real! These wonderful ladies have made me feel so welcome to 4th grade and I can’t wait to get to working with them!!!
Tuesday, I have to go to the dreaded dentist. I always tell my dentist that my teeth hate me, which is the reason I normally get cavities. I promise I do everything they say to and every 6 months they tell me I have one. Well this past time I did not have 1 cavity!!!! But I have to go in to have a filling fix that has come lose. Not what I want to be doing but it has to get fixed! But on a brighter note I will hopefully get to see a good friend and her classroom after. So, I have something to look forward to!!!!
Wednesday, will also be another exciting day. Since I have started blogging and joined the world of sellers over at TPT, I have met some wonderful people. On Wednesday I get to meet some of those wonderful people!!! Some of my fellow NC TPT teachers are going to get together for lunch!!! I am excited to get to meet and learn from these ladies and make some new friends along the way!!!

I also have a package coming in this week and should be blogging about it on Wednesday!!!!
For the rest of the week we will just have to wait and see. Maybe I will get lucky and I will get the keys to my new classroom?!?

I hope everyone have a fantastic week!!
